Bio

Jennifer Dunstan grew up dreaming of producing documentaries for television.

She dreamt auspiciously, landing her first job with a San Francisco ABC-affiliate, KGO-TV, the number-one rated television station in town, after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications from San Francisco State University.   When she wrote and produced ‘Tenderloin Kids,’ a well-received KGO-TV documentary that featured troubled children in San Francisco’s so-called war zone, the Tenderloin District, she realized that ambition and went on to help produce other documentaries that focused on a range of social issues in the community.

Next stop:  Honeywell, Inc, Minneapolis, in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, where she flourished as special projects producer in Honeywell’s Information Systems division.  Dunstan gained high-tech experience with comprehensive responsibility for three simultaneous corporate video programs series for Honeywell’s 90,000 worldwide employees.  This international video series was translated and viewed at multiple Honeywell sites abroad and enjoyed a popular following.

Then, the siren call of freelance writing prompted her to make a move to independent employment for seven years, writing and producing for such clients as General Mills, Walker Methodist and Abbott Northwestern hospitals, the Water Quality Association, and others.

Ten years ago, a harmonic convergence of events conspired to bring her to Albuquerque where she quickly found a position as writer/editor with Albuquerque Public Schools’ Community Relations department.  She subsequently became assistant director of Community Relations and one of two official spokespeople for this large urban school district of 87,000 students.   Dunstan gained extensive news media relations and on-camera experience, and worked closely with top administrators to develop strategic public relations planning to communicate education issues to the community.

The year 2004 was a watershed year for Jennifer Dunstan.  Drawn again to the idea of working for herself, she launched Jennifer Dunstan Communications, a full service public relations firm, providing clients with top verbal and written skills, and a flair for clear, effective ideas that produce results.  She partners with Aurora Design, a local graphic design/website design company, to fill a complete range of communications needs, including client counseling, freelance writing, and creating business marketing tools for a variety of clients.
